COMPETITIVE TEAMS

MVA offers competitive teams to players that want to excel in the sport of volleyball. MVA forms teams that fit various levels of commitment and competition. Athletes who are placed on a competitive team will train multiple times per week and compete versus teams from other clubs in various tournaments throughout the winter and spring seasons. Athletes who wish to participate in the competitive program must attend a tryout for their appropriate age group and will be selected for a team based on their skill performance and athletic potential.

18 & UNDER

MVA will field a max of two teams in this age group. After tryouts in November, U18 teams will practice from Thanksgiving to May. Tournaments will start in early January and the teams typically play in two tournaments per month. U18 teams travel heavily, playing several times in Spokane, WA., and various locations around the western United States.

The MVA 18 National (top roster) is comprised of the best players at tryouts regardless of age. The 18 National roster typically hosts players from all over western Montana. Athletes on this team must have collegiate aspirations. Roster sizes are from 9 to 11 players.

The MVA’s second 18s roster is fielded only if the competitiveness of the team permits. The roster is comprised of 9 or 10 juniors and seniors.

16 & UNDER

MVA fields a minimum of two teams in this age group. After tryouts in November, U16 teams will practice from Thanksgiving to May. Tournaments will start in early January and the teams typically play in two tournaments per month. All teams will compete in a USAV schedule that mostly takes place in Spokane, WA., as well as a couple of AAU events in western Montana.

The MVA 16 National team is comprised of the highest skilled 9th and 10th grade players attending tryouts based on their individual positions. A max of 10 players will be rostered.

The second roster in the U16 age group is focused on prioritizing 9th-grade athletes. In aiming to form the most competitive roster possible, sophomores are permitted on the team, but making sure freshman athletes have a place in MVA helps for the development of the club as a whole.

14 & UNDER

MVA fields one team in this age group. After tryouts in November, the team will practice from Thanksgiving to May. Tournaments will start in early January and the teams typically play in two tournaments per month. All teams will compete in a USAV schedule that mostly takes place in Spokane, WA., as well as a couple of AAU events in western Montana.

MVA aims to form the most competitive roster possible while still focusing heavily on developing young players. Typically, athletes play multiple positions and the focus is on developing all-around skills.

12 & UNDER
2014 MVA 12 RED – NORTHWEST VOLLEYFEST CHAMPIONS

MVA will look to field one U12 roster in 2024. The schedule is in its early planning stages, but families can expect to begin practices in late January and conclude the season in early May. The tournament schedule will be comprised of 6 to 8 events. MVA will focus on participating in local events, but will also schedule ERVA events in Spokane, WA.

A separate U12 tryout will be held in early January and the top evaluated athletes from ages 10-12 years old will be eligible for the team. MVA will look to keep a roster size of 8 to 9 players to maximize playing time.
